You are probably quite familiar with the fact that dogs can see a lot better at night than we can and of course everybody knows that dogs can smell a lot better than us. No wonder, given that we have only 5 million scent-detecting cells whereas they have a whopping 220 million!!

But, you would probably be surprised to learn that, whilst we humans have about 9,000 taste buds, dogs have only about 1,700. (And cats have even less with only 473.)
